Ballooning Hotel Apfelwirt Voucher order

With strong north winds into picturesque Veneto

Crossing the Alps in a hot air balloon is possible only four to seven times each winter (November to February). Planning can only be done at relatively short notice and therefore a good deal of flexibility is required for this unique adventure. An Alpine crossing during the warmer months of the year is not possible due to thermals (rising air caused by the heating of the ground by the sun).

Stages of an Alpine crossing

Once weather conditions indicate that an Alpine crossing may be possible, we will let you know two days in advance. We need a northerly Föhn weather condition, i.e. northerly winds of a minimum of 80 km/h at approximately 5,000 m, which occur after a cold front under increasing high pressure with mostly cloudless skies. Depending on the wind direction, we will meet at 8.00 am either in Zell am See, St. Johann in Tirol or in the Inn valley. After set up, up we go! The flight takes us over the Großglockner, Großvenediger, the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites as far as the plains of the river Po, not far from Venice. Since we will reach high altitudes at times in the process of crossing the Alps, oxygen is, of course, provided for every passenger on board.
